Accessories have a leading role when it comes to personalizing an outfit and taking it to a superior level in terms of complexity and elegance, originality and style. Each year fall accessories trends offer us the opportunity to renew our wardrobe by infusing it with a different set of pieces inspired from different time decades or from various unique cultures, to be able to maintain our style looking fresh. The fashion accessories of this season are no different, being an expression of style and opulence, leaving a powerful impression trough their eye catching presence.
The accessories for the fall/winter season 2010-2011 are quite contrasting being made to suit a variety of tastes and personalities. The influences are both classical and futuristic, feminine and daring, enabling each woman to embrace the style that most suits her. Some fall trends are also heavily inspired by the leading trends of this summer, a clear sign that the femininity that was characteristic for this summer will still have a strong impact for the colder seasons. At the same time, classicism and luxury are wonderfully combined creating the impression of power and modernism in a perfect balance. Here are a few of the must have accessories for fall/winter 2010-2011:
Ankle socks
Ankle socks are the perfect example of a beloved summer trend that comes back in style the next season. Designers with a resounding name in the world of fashion such asMarc Jacobs or John Galliano have ensured that this trend will be well represented for the season to come. If in the summer ankle socks were used to give a more interesting touch to heeled sandals, when the temperatures are lower ankles sock will be used to add a touch rebellion, being worn with high heeled boots. To pull off a fashionable look you can try to wear them dresses, skirts and oversized accessories.

The shoulder bag

Leopard printed accessories
Animal prints are coming back in full force in a variety of ways, aiming to add a daring touch to more conventional outfits, being one of the simplest ways to spice up your wardrobe for the season to come. There are virtually no restrictions when it comes to choosing animal printed outfits so use your personal sense of style and choose the accessories allow you to express your personality the best. Here are a few options you can choose from:

Knitwear and fur insertions
Knits are the ultimate expression of comfort and coziness, two characteristics of the colder season we are all able to relate to. Influences of this trend can be found everywhere from knitted bags (Prada) to boots with heavy knitted applications. If knitted accessories are not exactly your thing you can opt for a variety of clothing items with these types of insertions ranging from chic vests or loose fitting sweaters. If you are aiming for a more elegant then accessories wit artificial fur insertion can be just what you are looking for.

8 STYLE DON'TS FOR MEN

Socks with Sandals
Who decided this was okay in the first place? Traveling around, I am unfortunately faced with some of the worst offenders of this major fashion don’t. I understand that when it is chilly outside we all dream of the warmth of the summer sun, but wearing socks with sandals doesn’t make the seasons change any faster. If you want to wear sandals this badly, move to a warmer climate.
Novelty Ties, Shirts, Boxer Shorts, Etc.
Just say no (I'm channeling Nancy Reagan). There is nothing lasting about novelty clothing nor does it project a stylish, put together image. Leave the smiley faces, hearts, reindeer, shamrocks, animal and various other prints on the racks of the store where you found them.
Blaring Designer Labels
This is a personal pet peeve of mine. I don’t want to be a walking advertisement and neither should you. It’s not a sophisticated look. Just because you are wearing a designer’s name on your chest, sleeve, or wherever, doesn’t make you stylish. Keep it understated and simple.
Backpacks at the Office
Unless you are a college student, off to hike Runyon Canyon or are a paparazzi, there is no excuse for schlepping a backpack. If you need something for your gym clothes, buy a nice looking gym bag (and there are options that don’t have big logos on them), or if you need something to carry your assorted papers, cell phone, day-planner, etc., get a nice messenger bag.
Chunky Shoes
These were okay back in the 90s, but the big chunky shoes, especially those with square toes, should be retired at this point. Choose something classic that stands the test of time.
Shiny or Glittery Shirts and Suits
If you are looking for something to go out nightclubbing in, I can think of much better choices than those that are glittery, shiny and ultimately tacky. If you are at a loss, try a form fitting black t-shirt or black dress shirt which can be worn with jeans or trousers and dress shoes or casual shoes. Just SAY NO to Ed Hardy!
Clothes That Are Too Loose Fitting
In a word, sloppy. Unless you are a hip hop artist, it’s not the right look. Choose clothes that fit your body. This might take some experimentation by mixing and matching certain cuts and styles until you find the right fit for your body that is flattering.
Unflattering Colors
That beautiful blue cashmere sweater you found on sale after Christmas might be really tempting, but if it makes you look ill it’s no bargain. The colors you wear should compliment your natural features such as your eye color, skin tone and body shape. Keep this in mind when putting your look together.

SUNNIES for SUMMER 2010

Nothing says summer like slipping on your favorite pair of sunglasses while sun bathing on the beach, strolling around town or driving on a highway.
The shades below are my all time favorites that I believe every woman needs to have in her sunglasses collection. Once you have these basics, you can grow your collection by getting trendy and funky ones. But these are the four classics- the sunglasses that you can rely on from season to season.
Aviator They are plenty of designers and mass retail stores that offer aviator style sunglasses- from H&M to Marc Jocobs and Lanvin, but my favourite one remains to be the RayBan version.
Wayfarer Want to channel Audrey Hepburn? Just put your wayfarers on and you instantly give off a Parisian vibe. They come in a variety of colors, so there is a color to suit any personality.
Cat Eye Mysterious, feminine and oh so 50’s! The cat eye frame is timeless style that appeals to all types of girls.
Oversized Every girl needs a pair of oversized glasses to hide from the paparazzi.

MIXOLOGIST: MEN SHIRT & TIE COMBOS

I'll take mine shaken and stirred, a guy's wardrobe that is! Most men find choosing a dress shirt and tie a big chore. I say, no more! It's fun and fashionable to mix and match patterns. Here are a few combos that I think are a Must-Try this Spring & Summer when you are wanting to step out in style. The shirts and ties are available at Nordstrom!
Here's how you can transform 1 shirt, 5 different looks:
Lavender Striped Shirt with Striped Tie. Two sets of stripes is nice, but three's a crowd. Wear this combination with any suit that's not striped.
Lavender Striped Shirt with Navy Knit Tie. Reversed-out white lines and the tie's nubby texture take this solid-on-stripe combo way beyond basic.
Lavender Striped Shirt with Paisley Tie. Balance this high-energy tie with the calming effect of clean stripes in a complementary tone.
Lavender Striped Shirt with Purple Dot Tie. Embrace purple—it's everywhere right now. This timeless mix of dots on stripes is a distinguished way to add color.
Lavender Striped Shirt with Plaid Tie. Classic example of mixing patterns. Note the nice use of scale: amplified plaid on orderly awning stripes.

HOT HANDBAG TRENDS in '10
Posted by
Toni Ferrara
at 12:25 AM

I'm going to make this simple. Handbag styles and purse trends are a personal preference, but there are a few hot trends for 2010 that any woman will crave. I have been checking out the designers and it seems the following are going to be a big hit:
1) Soft embellishments
2) Jewel Tones
3) Multi Pockets
4) Double-Carry Options
5) Oversized Bags
6) Classic Shapes
Personal taste dictates what style of bag you choose to carry. Handbag trends come and go each year, so it is nice to know that there is a wide selection of inexpensive trendy purses as well as top-of-the line bags. Regardless of your budget, these trends can be found at any price point.
Soft embellishments are simple style elements added to a handbag to offer a bit of "oomph". While last year brought us chains, large hoops and heavy zippers, this year brings us softer, more subtle embellishments. Things to look for when it comes to soft embellishments: rouching, pleats and weaving of the exterior material; interesting straps and handles such as braiding or leather woven through (small) chain; fringe; mixed media (leather with suede or calf hair trim); and small metallic closures. Additionally, patent leather is considered a soft embellishment, provided there are no other style elements to distract from the patent.
Jewel toned handbags are basically bags in the color of gem stones: emerald, ruby, amethyst, peridot, and sapphire are the hottest jewel colors to look for. Handbags in jewel tones are available in variations of the gem, from deeper saturation to pale hues.
Multi pockets, either on the exterior or the interior, are a big style trend this year. I must add, however, that exterior pockets are presented in a soft embellishment manner - the pockets blend into the overall shape and form of the bag so they don't stand out.
Double carry options is my personal favorite when it comes to new handbag style trends. A purse with both a shoulder strap and top handle(s) make a bag so convenient for everyday use. Although this trend has gained popularity in recent months, it is sure to be a top trend for 2010.
Oversized bags are great for every woman. Available in virtually any style, the large sized purse can be worn by anyone. A word of caution: be aware of where the bag rests when worn. Smaller framed women may appear to be swallowed up by a large bag unless it is worn closer to the hip instead of under the armpit.
Classic shapes are back. And they are not meant for old ladies, either. Remember the '80's, when every female wore the little rectangular shaped flap bag ? Well, the updated version of this style is here. Simple shape, easy to wear...what else can you ask for?
I should mention that giraffe print purses are still going strong. I see this print everywhere. I personally am getting tired of the strong pattern, but done right it does look nice.

Friendship Bracelets and Not-So-Yellow Mellow

These two trends are as cheery as they come. There’s still time to dig up all those friendship bracelets you’ve got filed away along with your mix tapes, gawky portraits and old origamilike notes from your BFF. Just try to resist the temptation of dotting your i’s with hearts when you wear them.
